VPN Secure Line Slows internet speed

Opening a tab on the internet was taking 15 or more seconds. I went to Speedtest.net. It showed I was testing from , Leaseweb
108.62.116.176. Download speed 56.3 Mbs upload 12.63 Mbs. I turned off VPN  retested download 232.6 Mbs, upload 22.3 Mbs.  Why does VPN cause such a drag on my network speed??

Money has been paid for this product, and it is 100 times worse than free. So try to change the work, and not cheat customers? When you sell, you claim that your avast does not reduce speed and blah-blah-blah.
