Avast crashes Windows with REALvision
« on: January 08, 2020, 04:33:52 PM »
Hi!

I am a software developer of the program REALvision and I would like help to solve a problem that exists only on PCs with Avast installed.

During install of REALvision, Avast triggers a pop-up from the task bar, which scans the installer-exe.
- if the user lets the automatic scan finish everything is OK
- If the user installs REALvision with Avast disabled, everything is OK
- if the user clicks "Stop Scanning", the installer completes but is in some "corrupted state".

In the "corrupted state"
- If the user runs the installed REALvision, Windows crashes (BSOD)
- If the user disables Avast, everything is OK.

Note that in no cases does Avast place anything into its vault.

Here is a video from a customer's PC:
https://cir.sharefile.com/home/shared/fo33f1ee-deee-49ff-9e15-a58da2041c74
You can see that the app can launch after the customer disables Avast.

Our current workaround is to tell the customers to reinstall REALvision, but this time don't touch Avast while scanning the exe.

Can you help me find a permanent solution or at least be smarter on what is going on?
