Avast asks for restart after definiton update
« on: January 10, 2020, 04:37:33 PM »
Last couple of days, using Avast Free (latest stable version) on Windows 10 Home 64 ... Avast has asked me to restart the computer after it had downloaded definitions updates. Did something change in the defs that needs the restart and is everyone seeing this ? ? ... Thanks

VPS updates can also contain updates for scan engine and minor bug fixes

Yes. I was invited to Restart Windows after an Avast update today. This happens occasionally as Avast issue bug fixes alongside virus definition updates, thus avoiding a full fat program version update.
(I see Pondus has also replied in similar vein, whilst I was typing.)

Okay, did not think this was a big issue and there is also more on it in the thread about the latest release.
