Smart Scan has emerged in Custom Scans and the time and frequency of Smart Scans can be controlled (also Full Virus Scan, Targeted Scan and Quick Scan) among other settings.
How long this will last is anybody's guess. The rapid changes of Avast UI suggest that could even be as long as half an hour.
Actually Avast hasn't had a UI feature update in a very long time.
