Restarting computer

Every time I log in to my computer and open Avast, it tells me that ithe computer is still being protected but that I immediately need to restart it for all to functions to be active. How come?

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
