Upgrade from Win 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit to Win 10 fails with same error 0xC1900101 - 0x40017 "The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation.
I ran SFC /scannow came up with a long list of things fixed requiring a reboot. After this I ran SFCFix which indicated

Winsxs has the same Avast entries as before as does the registry.
So I think that over the weekend I might delete the winsxs entries and registry entries and see what happens.... unless anyone has any better ideas
