subscription renewal questions
« on: January 24, 2020, 07:07:58 PM »
Sorry if this is in the wrong sub forum.

previous avast premier 2 year license expires end of february.
previous price for 2 year premier (now auto upgraded to premium) came with a nice discount of £45 (was £99.16) paid £64.99

first email reminder last week with a new price of £69.99 for 1 year 1 pc (is there now no option to buy a 2 year licence).

now the strange thing is on the avast website a 1 year license states £59.99 so auto renew is £10 more for a loyal customer that has used avast for at least 10 years.
from previous experience is it best i cancel auto renew and then wait for all the emails with a cheaper price or just cancel auto renew and then buy again from avast website on my last day of subscription.

also what actually is the difference between premier and premium?
thanks

I would suggest that you do the following,

Contact Sales:  https://support.avast.com/en-us/contact/enter/
If you don't have an order # use 00000000 then explain your problem.
If you can't get a decent offer via your contact, have them cancel the auto renewal and
do your own research for a better price. (That's my personal advice. It's what I would do.)

Hi Bob, well i spoke too soon.

what a nightmare ive had thanks to avast download totally buggering up my laptop.
its taken 22 hours to wipe and clean instal 7 then upgraade to 10 again.

all i can say for anyone reading this is avoid safe mode like the plague in windows 10.

spoke to avast and paid for 2 years licence. key auto added to my account but then i noticed i had no firewall. checked and since the licence key was auto sent my premium had reverted back to free version.
spoke to support who sent me link to download their cleaner tool to be used in safe mode.
10 minute job i thought, heck no.
once in safe mode the cleaner tool shortcut was not there to run. tried to get out of safe mode and it asked for windows master password and kept telling me it does not exist.
spent 2 hours last night and 2 hours this morning and no matter what i tried i could not get it to accept my password which worked earlier as did fingerprint. avast wanted £99 for premium help but lowered it after i eplained it was initially avast that caused the problem after they had sent the key.
long story short i had to do a total clean win 7 install and upgrade to 10. i lost all my passwords that had been extracted from avast to desktop.
note to self. safe mode is now a no go area just in case i cant get out again.

It probably would have been helpful to follow my guide.
How to Successfully Install Avast -> http://goo.gl/VLXde
The firewall in the paid version by default is set to public and needs to be set to private
if you're on your home network.
I'm personally happy with the firewall supplied by Windows.
