Secureline VPN Wont Switch Off

My VPN will switch on and work ok. but it will not switch off. it rolls and rolls  and while trying to switch off it kills my internet connection. I've got to reboot to clear it  I've tried Con. Alt. Del  and it won't let me.

Update Avast, restart your computer.
