AshServ.exe CPU 100%
« on: August 26, 2006, 04:56:42 PM »
Hi 2 all
I downloaded AVAST Home and installed it.

But the Ashserv.exe has everytime 100% CPU time.

If I close this process, then my system is stable, but in the tray the avast Icon is with the "red ring" for Inactive.

I hope you understand me, because my english is very bad :D

My System is:
2,5 Ghz CPU
512 RAM

Are you using the trial version or just the home one...
I mean, is there any scheduled scanning running in background? It uses the same process ashserv.exe

Is there any other antivirus in this computer?
What are you doing when the cpu is taken by ashserv.exe?

The free home version, with the icense key from avast.com

I think there is no schedulded scanning running in background, but how can I check it? Avast is the only program which using ashserv.exe :)

There is no other Anti Virus installed on my PC
And I kill the process, then the red ring is in the tray for inactive avast :)

No need for that as you're using the Home (there isn't this possibility in this version).

There is no other Anti Virus installed on my PC

Was there any in the past? Which other security program do you use? Firewall?

Yeah, free-av I have used in the past, but I uninstalled it correctly and there is nothing from free-av on my pc at the moment. My Firewall is Sygate Personal Firewall, but I  think this shouldn't be the problem :)

I don't use any other security program

 :)  Hi :

Just to make sure Sygate ( which I have ) is NOT causing
the problem, it would be wise to view the info in the
Sygate Personal firewall Guide at :

     www.kotiposti.net/string/SPF_eng/SPFGuide.html .

I have an idea, but not tested now, could it be, that the problem is the test on startup of the.. noarf... I don't know the word... In German it means Speicher
ine nglish I think it's memory :)

On startup avast is scanning the memory, is that the problem?

Since two days I'm experiencing the same problem ,the ashserve.exe takes about 50% of my cpu all the time and when I'm surfing the page just won't load so I have to end ashserve.exe, than the page loads immediatly. I know I won't quit Avast but I do wish that this problem would be fixed  ;D

But will Alwil team correct it or the problem is on Trillian and you report to them in order to get the problem corrected?
The next release of avast or of Trillian?
Can you describe the problem?

some users experienced problems, if they run trillian and avast!
Avast (Ashserv.exe) have some "bugs" or anything else and this is the reason, why your CPU is in "Fullwork" with 100percent.

the Problem is on avast, the alwil team correct the problem on avast and update it.  Michael Tepass said, that they will fix it and on the next release of avast the problem shouldn't be there :)
