Windows Vista pre-RC1 ISO file
« on: August 29, 2006, 07:59:03 PM »
Special offer from Micxrosoft
Microsoft is offering 100,000 downloads of Windows Vista Pre-RC1, though you will need a valid CD key,
which was available during the previous public beta download offer.
http://download.windowsvista.com/preview/prerc1/en/download.html

I'm working on obtaining a link to obtain this CD Key now unless someone from here already has it. :)

Most probably not...
Here you can see System Requirements and if you can use Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/capable.mspx

A modern processor (at least 800MHz).
512 MB of system memory.
A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.

You could also try the VistaUpgradAvisor.MSI program that Microsoft puts out.
I have it available on MYSharedFiles

My advice: Do not even think to install Vista if you don't have at least 1 Mb of RAM. Fast processor is a must, and one of those nice modern Video cards with DirectX-9 capability, or even DirectX-10.

Her configuration:

1. Intel Pentium III 700 mhz desktop
2. 384 MB of RAM
3. Most likely she has some integrated Video card inside

And yours:
1. AMD Athlon 2000+ 1.6GHZ
2. 768MB of RAM
3. PowerColor 9600 PRO EZ 256MB

Can you spot the difference ?  ::) I surelly can...

Just curious about mine, what do you guys think?

Intel Pentium M 1.86 GHz
1.5 GB DDR2 RAM

Then my Video Card came integrated as an Intel Chipset. I believe it is the 915 GM Chipset.

Why people always ask: "Will this work on my PC". Well of course it will. It's just a matter of how fast it will work. So yeah it'll work, just don't expect good performance with it...

What Sony of rootkit and exploding fame ;D ;D sorry couldn't help myself.

As RejZoR said it will work for the most part but how fast and what functions you will be able to reasonably use will be the question. With a high performance video card and a reasonable CPU (yours should be OK) you shouldn't have any problem using the Glass graphic effects, but a lower powered video card probably not.

Thank you for your interest in Windows Vista. The Customer Preview Program is now closed. We have reached our goal of 100,000 downloads for the pre-RC1 release and the program is now closed. Windows Vista RC1 will be available in the coming weeks. Please refer to the Customer Preview Program website for information, including DVD-burning instructions," according to Microsoft's Web site. Don't fret if you didn't get yours: It sounds like RC1 truly is right around the corner, and that public test release is slated to go to more than two million.
