Avast E-mail Alerts No Longer Working
« on: February 07, 2020, 01:49:10 AM »
The e-mail alert feature in the free version of Avast stopped working some time around August or September of 2019.  It still does not work in build 19.8.4257.552.  When trying to send a test e-mail, Avast throws the following error message:  "Error while sending the alert.  A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the socket had already been shut down in that direction with a previous shutdown call".

Is this something Avast is going to fix?  The alerts work as they should in Avast Pro Business, but the error is consistent in the free version.  Please don't advise me to reinstall Avast, Windows or hop on one leg.  I've duplicated the problem numerous times, on multiple PCs, across various platforms.  This is most certainly an Avast program bug. Any factual info is appreciated.

So nobody uses e-mail alerts to be notified if something malicious has been found on a machine?? Does anyone from Avast monitor this forum at all?

Well, not with the consumer products. Why would you need it there..?
