Dear Avast-Specialists,

my current problem concerns the following: iAvast free Antivirus for Mac (v. 14.3, (69306100252d)) blocks my email client (MS Outlook) from downloading several Pop accounts. There seems to be an issue with the certificates. When I switch off Avast email protection, everything works, turned on again, Outlook Pops up the Message that a connection with the mail server failed. The issue is known in Windows 10 setting, thus I wanted to download the ssl-certificate avast produces to import this into my email client. I failed as I did not find the menu to do so.

Does anybody have advice here?

Thanks

Phil

MacOS-Version ist Catalina 10.15.3
MS Outlook Version ist 16.33 (20011301)

Hello,
please could you send me email servers that you have issues with to ondrej.kolacek <at> avast.com? We will check if we can find out what is wrong.
Kind regards,

I have had the same issue:

I have experienced the following problem:

I installed Avast Antivirus (Free version) on my MacBook. Soon after, I noticed long delays with Google mail syncing with my email clients (I use apple mail and Spark) on all of my devices (MacBook, iPhone, iPad). In fact my apple mail app said that it couldn't connect to gmail imap. Using a web browser or the google mail app, there was no problem.

I uninstalled Avast Antivirus from my Mac and a while later google mail returned on all devices.

I then reinstalled Avast Antivirus and the problem returned!

I have uninstalled the program again and, after a delay, gmail is again working fine.

It does appear that Avast Antivirus is in some way interfering with google mail imap. I see that there have been reports of similar issues in the past. I am reluctant to install Avast again. Is there a solution to this issue?

Hello,
The issue of the original poster has probably been identified and will be fixed in the next version of Avast - 14.4. It only affects POP3 traffic.

I personally use Gmail account via IMAP evert day and such traffic is part of our tests; we have never identified any issue with this. We are adding new diagnostics options to Avast 14.4, so when it is out I can try to diagnose your issue.

Kind regards,

Hi Ondrej,

After a long battle, I discovered that Avast is blocking / messing with the certificates in https://sparkmailapp.com/ even though I have secure website checking turned off.  I had to disable web and attachments scanning to make Spark Mail work.  Can you please resolve this?

Thanks!  I really appreciate you guys!
