Unfortunately Friends are not supported. It was removed from Firewall. The list should be generated automatically based on your network = user cannot affect that :(

Thank you, I can see that with the return of "old settings", it was no longer the case to be able to change  IPs.

What about  The Dial-Up Modem tick-box ?

On the other hand, will we be able to remove (screen) obsolete network connections in the future? I can't find this in the general UI or in the hidden menu.

Remove obsolete networks: we can "remove" it from the UI (just the row). But the network is still there. It is connected to windows nla and if we remove it, it can break something in windows. In the past there was different implementation (not connected directly to win) and it was possible. Btw we are showing max 10 networks.
Dial-Up Modem checkbox - to be honest, I have no idea what it does. But I think it won't help with activation issues. It is somehow related to vps and program updates.

Remove obsolete networks should be possible = adding the button. I will check that.

It was originally put in to prevent auto updates. That feature was there long before the VPS. :)

I got the warning that my virus definitions in Avast Premium Security are not up to date so I clicked on update.  What happens is it seems to be trying update forever and never stops.  What is wrong?  I also tried to uninstall to reinstall thinking to resolve the issue that way but my laptop won't let me saying the setup is already running and to start it later!  Help please someone!  I am worried about being vulnerable while my definitions are not up to date and I cannot update them.

Hello, the new version works fine, except that "behavior shield not turning on while booting" bug is back again for me. I have automatic updates turned on, so I'm not sure which one beta version introduced this bug again for me. Now it says "ver. 20.1.2397 – build 20.1.5069.537".

Found out what the problem was.  Windows was offering this "exclusive wallpaper" themes package for free download and I had attempted to download one of them but it was obviously not compatible or too heavy for my system as it never got to the end of the download.  This was still running in the background since yesterday and I discovered it today!  Once I interrupted it and cancelled the download, I was able to update my definitions and app just fine.

this version sucks.

1. it suffers from the same bug where the behavior shield will disable itself after a few minutes when resuming protection (when you had disabled it for a while)
2. but, even worse: Disabling the shields HAS NO EFFECT, avast will still deetect viruses, even while disabled. there is NO WAY to pause protection now.

Avast has stated that part of the problem was system related but that the inability of not being able to turn the function off isn't acceptable.
I've asked for further and more explicit details and also requested that Avast post the information on the Forum.

Basically, after the last Avast update, version 20.1.2397 build 20.1.5069.528 everytime I turn on the PC, Windows Defender is active instead of Avast and I have to turn Avast manually, is this a problem on my end or is just Avast that fucked up something with the last update? Notice that I'm using Avast since 2016 and never had any problem, I've already tried launching repair and rebooting the PC, but the problem is still there

I would suggest the following.

Clean Install of Avast:
