How may I inhibit a message being put in my outgoing emails that "it has been virus checked by Avast".

Use to be able to prevent these.

Thanks

I think I’ll wait awhile longer until some of the issues are resolved first, before, I update the latest Avast AV. I don’t have any issues with the Avast version I’m using below my sig at the moment, so I’m not going to update to the latest version at the moment.

Longtime Avast user, first time poster...

I've noticed Avast continues to grow VERY memory intensive.

Are there any settings that can minimize the memory usage?

TIA...

It is somewhat difficult to determine what to suggest as there is nothing to work with.

Your system specs might help OS, CPU, RAM, do you have any other security programs installed and running, etc ?

Possibly more importantly what are you doing on your system when this happens ?
Avast being a resident on-access AV is going to be scanning the activity on your computer.

RAM is there to be used as it is much faster that way, but if nothing has changed since your update to Avast version 20.1 that is strange.

EDIT: typo

Good points David
I see on my Win 10 systems (check signature) I see a 'combined' memory use of all Avast services etc at idle of 165-170 mb which imo is extremely light.

Edit:
Obviously memory use increases as Avast scans/functions in the background.
From my long use of Avast I've found Avast to be significantly lighter on resources then any other Internet Security product/Antivirus I've used in the past

If rebooting didn't solve the issue, try a 'Repair' of your Avast installation.
In your UI  Go to Menu>Settings>Troubleshooting then scroll choose "Repair App" and Reboot.

Updated 4 laptops (W10, X64). Worked fine for 2 of them. For the third one had to restart 3 times to clear the warning (no protection) before getting the message "you are protected". For the 4th one everything looked fine after the first reboot but after 2 minutes Avast icon went red.Had to restart 4 times to clear the warning (no protection) to get the message "you are protected". Very stressful !

I also encountered the same "self-updating" behaviour reported by other users:
my Win10 system with Avast free has updated today to 20.1 (from 19.3) despite my setting "Ask when an update is available".
Indeed, to be precise, the program yesterday popped up a notice about a new release being available (just as it had done with the updates between 19.3 and 20.1, which I refused) but, despite my denial, at the following system boot (this morning) I got a message saying something like "Congratulations! Your Avast has been updated".

Fortunately, my system does not seem to have new problems...
Anyway, since I usually refuse, during manual installations, any proposal related to optional additional products or components, shall I deduce that maybe this time Avast, just as it updated itself without asking permission, can also have done the same thing with other stuff?

This time, I downloaded avast_free_antivirus_setup_online.exe, SHA1: 9B980CE0C2354DE2E8F01431FE73DA64318695E2, I believe the file has no errors. Perform a network installation as follows:
1.The program first connects to 23.59.247.249 (USA) and downloads the free_antivirus_setup_online_x64.exe file.
2.free_antivirus_setup_online_x64.exe connects to 203.208.43.66 (Beijing Telecom) and downloads the program.
3.After more than twenty minutes, the program began to connect all over the earth. 5.62.40.221 (Germany) 23.210.203.65 (Tokyo, Japan) 23.2.16.9 (Hong Kong) 117.128.6.11 (Beijing Mobile) 5.62.38.79 (Netherlands) 5.62.53.225 (Czech Republic)。
If so troublesome, it will be much easier to provide a country option when starting the installation.
4.Ten minutes later, tracert.exe started to connect to 216.58.200.238 (Taiwan), 172.217.160.78 (US)
5.avastui.exe has connection 203.208.50.62 (Beijing Telecom), which is the correct connection that rarely appears during the entire installation and activation process.
6.After completing the installation, virus database update, and the first scan, the program interface displays "Expired. Please select a protection type."。
7.This time, I tried the four methods provided by this software to activate, all failed. a. Click on the left side of the interface to activate, b. Select the protection type button directly in the center, c. Click the new protection type button in the upper right corner notification, and d. Register the program icon.
get conclusion:
1. The free version shows that the overdue has nothing to do with offline or online installation.
2. The installer cannot accurately determine the user's region. Rarely does the server in the user's area connect properly.
3. The online installer connects to the US server to download the installer, which causes the installation process to take half an hour.
4. Four activation methods, including the display of the correct activation information "0 days used", but even so, the program interface still shows that the program is out of date, even after restarting windows.
5. The installation and virus database update can be completed online correctly. It is certain that this error belongs to the program itself.

1.Windows10 fresh install offline free version.
2.After installation, the interface shows that it has expired
3.Click Select Protection Type and select the free version.
4.Give back to try premium security for 60 days for free. Choose "no, thank you"
5.The software still shows expired. no change.
View the IP of the software connection during this period:5.45.58.177, 5.62.53.249, 203.208.43.94, 5.45.58.126, 5.45.59.250, 119.81.94.3, 23.59.247.40,
Because it's using China Mobile Broadband.Normal should connect ip 203.208.43.94.
Why can't it finally display protected information like the previous version.

@zony,
A simple solution would have been to use the off-line installer.
