Virus Definitions Fail to Update

Virus definitions are failing to update. Whether with manual or automatic updating, it says "You virus definitions are not up to date" and immediately the "Checking for Virus Definitions" activity bar starts and keeps on moving back-and-forth, but no update (ran all night.)

Avast Premium Security version 19.8.2393 (build 19.8.4257.552)
Virus Def version: 200206-2
IU Version: 1.0.455
