Avast reports my app as a virus!
« on: March 08, 2020, 03:55:23 PM »
Yesterday one of my app users got a warning from avast that programming hero contained pup virus. I don't know how they check this. Then I checked the same app version with avast in many devices and didn't get the warning. I also check this app with avg, Kaspersky and didn't get the warning as well. After that, I also checked the same version in online VirusTotal website and its looks fine. Now user started emailing me that my app is virus-infected and they uninstalled it and advised all his friends to do the same.

Please help me to fix this issue as soon as possible.

The only one to flag as supicious is Ultimate Hosts engine:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/ip-address/74.125.132.101/detection

See other malcode that shares that particular IP (IP related dectections):
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/ip-address/74.125.132.101/relations

Indeed wait for a final verdict as a reaction to reporting this as a possible FP from an avast team member,
as they are the only ones to come and unblock. We here are just volunteers with relative knowledge.

Dear Shuvojit,

PUP means Potentially Unwanted Program. For people that willingly install the program onto their computer then for them it is no PUP,
as they should be fully aware of what the program does or can do. When people get it unwillingly installed unto their computer (meaning not installing it themselves) then this really means they have a PUP. So the first P in PUP depends on what users do with it or not or how to qualify it.

polonus
