No More Auto-Renewal For Me!
« on: March 14, 2020, 12:44:35 AM »
3 days ago my bank account was debited $79.99 for an Avast Premier Security renewal and today they have the nerve to send me via email a Friday the 13th sale for that very same product @ $44.99! I am a long time user of Avast products, of which I use several, but feel really pissed off by this recent charge. I will no longer permit them to automatically renew any of my products. I will instead holdout for the sale price.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Contact Sales:  https://support.avast.com/en-us/contact/enter/
If you don't have an order # use 00000000 then explain your problem.
I never use auto renewal on anything. Prefer to wait for an offer which always comes. :)

Actually, this is the kind of situation where we can get an idea of whether a company is really cool or not, using lingo an older fella like Happily-Married-Bob would understand.

You see, OP, that sort of thing happening isn't really so surprising because of the numbers the accounting and sales departments are dealing with.  A smaller company probably would have checked first to see if anyone was close to renewal dates before sending out that special renewal package.  Maybe even a bigger company could have better software to be able to mimic a smaller company.

But it happened.  For whatever reason.

BUT the way they handle your contact with them is the key.  A "cool" company will quickly give you some money back and then you can tell everyone how cool the company is and even come back to this thread and post about the cool thing they did.

By the way, us older types, like Happily-Married-Bob, don't go for that auto-renewal thing, because AutoMistrust sort of grows with age, like those big trees in California.

You lost me in your first sentence. If you're trying to sling some mud, careful it's not nice when it's returned.
Have a nice day.

My intent was not at all any sort of mud-slinging.

Firstly, I am assuming calling anything "cool" when meaning that 'anything' is a good thing is not a present-generation way of using the English language.  But my generation used to use that language in the U.S. of A. back in the 60s and 70s.  (Funny, now that I think about it, I do not remember when that went out of fashion.  Maybe the 80s.)

Secondly, the reference to you and your wife being happily married was an extension of thought of the reference you make to the 60 years under your avatar.

Thirdly, my wife and I are also older humans and do not mind being told we are older and such and I guess I jumped to the conclusion you wouldn't mind either, but I apologize if I am wrong.

In fact, I apologize all around, as I must just stay cold and straight and no longer try to be sociable.  You've properly taught me the lesson.

So on that straight road, my point after the first sentence is that the company could go for excellent public relations points by refunding the difference between what the customer paid and what the price was in the special discount package sent to the customer the day or two after the customer paid that full price.

But I will remove myself from that road altogether now and thank you for the advice to not try to be friendly on this site.

Once again, I apologize that my English was that bad and my intent on many fronts was not understood.  Even at my advanced age I can still learn; sometimes.

Apologies aren't needed. Like you I'm happy I've made it to my age.
I supplied the user with a link to contact Avast since I pretty much expect Avast
to do exactly what you expect a good Company to do. :) It would greatly surprise me if they did not.
Let's start our meeting over on a more friendly not. Sorry if I misunderstood the meaning of your post.

Thanks. Do you still get a reminder that the subscription is about to run out?
