I read that Avast has disabled its JavaScript emulator because of a vulnerability.

I failed to find it. Does this issue affect AVG too?

On an active forum it can be difficult to see if a question hs been asked and answered.

I have no idea, not being an AVG user, but even if it were, I can only assume the same action would have been carried out on that too.
