I am running Avast Free v20.1.2397 (build 20.1.5069.559).  UI version 1.0.460 on my home computer with Windows 10 Home.
On my office computer with Windows 10 Pro and Avast Business, the warnings are not reported.

When I look at the Reliability History I see 2 warnings every hour at exactly the same time, so must be part of the normal update schedule.

Avast Update Helper - Unsuccessful application reconfiguration
"Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Avast Update Helper. Product Version: 1.4.122.333. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: AVAST Software. Reconfiguration success or error status: 1638."
and then again at the same time with "error status: 1603."

I have seen a few other posts  on this topic but no solutions.

I am hoping a restart of the topic will create some action and perhaps even a solution.   ;)

So I thought it might help to have a bit of a summary of those three topics listed above and so from top to bottom I drew out this basic information, and I was actually thinking at first about the OS involved:

on: April 08, 2019, 04:55:49 PM » Running Avast Pro Antivirus on Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.

on: April 14, 2018, 07:26:12 AM » 4 other customers posted in this thread of the same trouble. AND the OP is mchain  // Avast Evangelist  ///   Ultra Poster AND states "It is a bug in Avast Secure Browser!" and also posted three other threads as reports of similar trouble.

on: May 21, 2018, 08:29:43 AM » Windows 10 for this OP.  And some extensive posting, to include mchain  // Avast Evangelist.

And please note in Summary #2 in the thread by 'mchain' that three other topics were listed.

You'll forgive the observation of a rookie/amateur, but for a problem to remain unresolved for over a year seems a tad on the strange side.  Is that normal in this business?  That is more than three or four customers stating they have the problem and it goes back a fair bit and remains unresolved.

Well, I am a nobody just wondering.  Sorry.
