blue screen when turning off the PC
« on: April 13, 2020, 07:44:49 AM »
Hello, I started getting a blue screen after turning off the computer with the error:
system_thread_exception_not_handled (aswbidsdriver.sys)

What should I do?
AvastClear does not start at all, avast itself too, everything connected with it too, tried to send you by avastsupport gives an error 12002.

Why is this relevant?  Is there a specific version of Avast which may generate a "blue screen when turning off the PC"????

All of the questions by Asyn, give him a good start point to try and help.

The question in your quote is effectively to ensure that the user has the latest version installed, trying to resolve a problem on old versions is sometimes futile.

1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

I tell you, I do not run the utility, if I turn on safe mode, then again a blue screen will appear and it will not work, the installer also does not start...

If I understand well, you cannot launch avastclear when you are under windows, ... but you can stop it without launching anything ?
When your computer is turned off, did you try to start your computer in Safe Mode?
Only when you are in safe mode, run avastclear. You should not get a blue screen with this procedure.

Sometimes it's not possible to uninstall Avast the standard way - using the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in control panel. In this case, you can use our uninstallation utility avastclear.

    Download avastclear.exe on your desktop
    Start Windows in Safe Mode
    Open (execute) the uninstall utility
If you installed Avast in a different folder than the default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
    Click REMOVE
    Restart your computer

I know, but what I wanted to point out is to reboot himself in safe mode, because for most users (warped), it is avastclear - launched in normal mode - which performs the reboot procedure in safe mode.
I have the sensation that this is what's bothering kakoddos and I'm leaning on the fact that he's rebooting himself into safe mode....avoiding a blue screen.

@kakoddos: when you get a blue screen error, minidump file is created in your \Windows\minidump folder. Can you please send me the latest one file to my kurtin@avast.com email? Thanks.
