False positive?
« on: May 04, 2020, 07:52:09 PM »
A friend of mine sent me a link to her very legit website but avast is blocking it so that I can't view it on my computer.  I'm concerned that others in her audience with avast won't be able to see her site.  How does one go about reporting a false positive so that it is removed?

Hello.

A false positive (file or website url) is reported using the form at

https://www.avast.com/en-gb/false-positive-file-form.php

It is hard to say why it might be blocked when:
The domain isn't given (only post domain-name.com no http https, etc. etc.).
Nor is the avast alert or screenshot of the alert.

Whilst a link has been given to submit a possible false positive, if there are genuine problems/issues, then the submission may not change anything.  There are sites in which we can check a domain and they reflect weaknesses and advice can be given to prevent these issues.
