« on: September 07, 2006, 07:23:55 PM »
Avast Home keeps stripping the file extension of exe of the downloaded file names. How do I stop this?

That isn't something that I'm aware avast can do, it merely scans files and if found to be infected will alert you but not strip file extension.

What Operating System are you using ?
What program were you using to download the files ?
What other security based software do you have that might block have an effect e.g. Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), SpySweeper, PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc. ?

What is your firewall ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

avast can't do that...
Are you using any download manager?

Just using Internet Explorer (no DL managers) and clicking on the link.

Windows XP Pro SP2

I was able to do it fine until I installed Avast.

Sorry, avast! doesn't strip anything. Can you please describe the problem more in detail?
