Duplicate sent items in outlook

Using the latest version of Avast as of may 7, 2020.
Windows 10, outlook 2010 connecting with a Mapi email interface.
recently changed (upgraded?) from godaddy webmail to their office365 offering. 

Since the upgrade, sent items are duplicated.  they are identical except that the avast footer appears on one and not on the other.

If i turn off outgoing email scanning, the footers stop, but the duplicates continue.
If i turn off email scanning, the duplicates stop. 

Any recommendations?
