Yet more privacy settings ignored!
« on: May 09, 2020, 03:05:36 PM »
Another setting ignored by Avast Mobile Security (Android).

In the privacy settings I removed the permission regarding sharing data with Avast so I can get promotions and special offers.

Yet i still get a large green bar telling me its disabled!

I know its disabled as i don't want marketing rubbish from Avast!

Uninstalling and cache clearing has no effect.

Another setting ignored is the one concerning testing your wifi speed. Keeps prompting me to run a wifi speed test despite having the relevant setting turned off.

But then Avast are so keen on pestering paid users.

At least there are other solutions.

Hello.

No one from Avast want to explain why their android security product ignores privacy settings?

Also mentioned in another post: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=234065.0

Hi, sorry it has taken a bit longer. The behaviour you have described is not usual, please install the Beta version (more on https://goo.gl/r8UPdZ), and let me know, if the problem persists - if it doesn't, it will be corrected by the upcoming update. Otherwise we will need to have a closer look at the issue.

Hello.

The beta version does NOT fix the issue, as shown in the attach screen copies.

This should be easy to check but this app has a long-running history of ignoring notification and privacy settings.

Simple things, like this issue, should have been tested before reaching the beta phase let alone the final version.

One screen copy shows my privacy settings and the other just the same pestering message.

Hello.

Any developments on correcting this issue with the privacy, and other, settings?

It's easy to reproduce and i have done so on my Samsung S9 (Android 10 Patch: 1 April 2020) and my old Motorola X 2nd edition (Android 6 - Marshmellow). Both devices have never been rooted.

The team has found your comment as a valid point and is discussing it.
Complete analysis of the feed card has been requested, first of all, one of the colleagues will make sure this card will not target Ultimate users.
At this point we are not able to give you any particular deadline or solution, but we are dealing with it, thanks for your incentive.

It takes a few weeks to release a new version, this one was being prepared long before this thread even started, thanks for understanding.

Hello.

Thank you for the information.

I look forward to the day when AMS actually follows its user-set options.
