VPN preventing Home network inter-PC access

I want to access files on PC-b  from PC-a on my home network.
With VPN off i can transfer back and forth, with VPN on the connection is disabled.

How do I set up avast so that I dont have to turn VPN off to file share?

Dear Asyn, I have a similar problem, searched the forum before posting and found your comment.
I have Avast Premium Security, Windows 7 64 bit, Chrome browser, and a hard disk (Western Digital MyBookLive) connected to the router. All via cable ethernet. The network is Private.
When activating the VPN the networked HD disappears.
You said "You can exclude your private network in the settings". I found a checkbox "Exclude trusted networks (private)" (Excluir redes de confianza (privadas)) and it's checked.
What else can you suggest? Thank you!

P.D. I also have problems connecting with certain sites but it will be a separate question.

Hi Daniel, if it doesn't work, I'd suggest to wait for ASL 5.6, it has a new feature called "Smart VPN" that might help.

I HAVE SAME PROBLEMS.
I HAVE AVAST ULTIMATE.
If i disable VPN , i can access to a server NAS and .... i can send mails..
with enabled VPN i cannot acces to a server NAS and cannot send mails.
BUT once disabled AND then enabled  i can access to everything as written above?

why??

The responses were unhelpful.  I have the same problem and I'm thinking perhaps the OP was wondering the same as I am.....how to protect the "original" ISP connection (pre-AvastVPN), which is used to access a home network without making that connection public...or must it be made public, or???  A better setup explanation would be most helpful.  I will try a new question, maybe with better understanding?

Hi,

Go to the Firewall settings in Avast Premium Security and set the Firewall profile to Private. Next, go to the network settings in SecureLine and set the network profile to Private.

The Firewall setting made some difference.
pc-a can now see pc-b but not the other way around.
Both can now see the nas.
