I just added a 20.1' flat screen to my system. The monitor was only $229.00
after a $50.00 Mail in rebate. We had a system listed in one of the other thread for $99.00

You can find a picture of the monitor I bought at:

(It's a big picture that why I didn't show it here)

Sorry Mac but to me, the prices Apple charges are just way out of line. IMHO

The Core Series processors from intel are more expensive than the Pentium and celeron lines that most other PCs are using hence Macs cost more than a Pentium 4 PC but if you bought a PC with a Core processor is would be about the same.

We get seen off in the UK with Mac Mini Core duo at £599 a right Royal rip off when the dollar rate is $1.87 to the £, so that works out at an eqvilent of $1120 almost double.

David it should be $599 for the Dual 1.66Ghz and $799 for the dual 1.83 mini. Dont know if that price you said includes VAT (does that apply in the UK?)

Just looked on Apple's site and it lists the 1.66Ghz Core Duo as £399.01 inc VAT and the 1.83Ghz as £529.00 ???

The entry level model looks like a pretty good deal, I've added it to my stuff to buy when I've got some money list ;D

In the UK it seems when there is a dollar price we end up paying the same in pounds and that usually includes 17.5% VAT, even without the VAT there are no comparison with US pricing.

Thanks for that info, that is more like it close to the rate of exchange + VAT and a little for shipping, etc. The MicroMart article may well have used the pricing for the higher spec core duo Mac Mini, though that is higher than the Mac UK Store price also.

I really like the style of the Mac TFT's I paid £320 for my Phillips 20.1" TFT but £529 for the 20" Cinema TFT 'ouch' but it does have some nice features.

David There I absouletly Agree with you. Apple Charges WAY too much for their displays
Personally I Use a Samsung SyncMaster 17" CRT that I got in 2003 for a little over $150 Its not as nice as Apple's but i could not justify what they want for a LCD display then and I still wont pay it today
