First I would recommend you to clear the app data: go to Android Settings → Applications → Avast Mobile Security → Delete cache and user data. If it does not help, you can try to reinstall the app. If that doesn't help either, please contact my colleagues directly from the app's Menu → Help & support → Avast direct support. That way we will get some technical details that might help us better investigate the issue and find out what is going on.
