Vista RC1 and Avast Pro
« on: September 12, 2006, 06:27:36 PM »
GDay All,

When I tried to install Avast Pro v4.7.871 under Vista RC1 32bit edition I am unable to run it.

Vista warns about in-compatibilities and refuses to let Avast Pro run.

Any ideas when/if this problem will be rectified??

BTW. I think avast is by far, the best anti-virus product out there. I've used heaps of different AV over the years, but avast still tops them all. Its a shame that it wont work under Vista RC1 ... yet!!  ;)

Any comments welcome.

GDay All,

Ok I have installed the newer version of Avast Pro and apart from a compatability warning, Avast Pro is functioning well.

Although I seem to now have a startup delay whereby, the red circle appears for about a minute or so before avast starts. This is not a serious problem, as the rest of the system is still starting. I have seen this before under XP Pro, but I was usually able to sort it out by running BootVis. Unfortunately, BootVis will not run under Vista  :(

BTW... Thanks for the welcome Xmas, I'm glad to be here ;)
