Ransomware shield - how much affect PC's performance?
« on: June 19, 2020, 12:04:44 AM »
Hello,
in next version of Avast Free will be Ransomware shield, but i saw screenshot of Ransomware shield settings where under selection of file types to protect is written this: "Selecting everything may impact your PC's performance"

So my question is, how much PC performance is affected? What advantage has Ransomware shield for people like me, who has everything important backed up outside PC? So its better for me avoid this shield during installation? I really dont need slower PC for nothing. Thank you.

This is your answer? So sad. This community is worse and worse. Of course I read FAQ, thats why I ask this.

How sad, that you never mentioned you had read the FAQ, it would have saved an Avast User (just like yourself) and community member the effort of even looking.  Keep shooting the messenger and who is going to bother answering.

I have never felt the need to use any 'ransomware tool' you appear to be in the same boat as you have a backup and recovery strategy in place.  So you should be able to make your decision and performance/speed shouldn't be an issue, if as you say you have it covered.

In FAQ is nothing about how much slow your PC, only on one screenshot is written if you choose too much file types to protect, then you can feel slower PC. Anyway this can do more harm then good thinks. I use AV for realtime scanning and not for locking my folders. Nothing is better than good backup plan.
