I have a notebook with specific software to my needs, updated avast to the latest version, restart the computer and after that   unistalling software to pass the computer to another person.

I find if allways start explorer from the taskbar icon, always crash and restart the entire explorer process( the taskbar is refreshed).

To rapid revolved the problem i choose to reinstall Windows 8.1 from the begining(format and reinstall only the essencial software), then i get another problem, avast always failed to load the ui

From the web  i try the recomended choices to resolved, verify avast services are running in automatic, enable remote desktop,  reinstall; in the order suggested of priotity

In the main computer, i was getting another problem wich i do not associated to avast but perhaps related,  ussually the first start the computer i was getting avast not loaded(red x), upon restart got responsive anb loaded

The only choice remained was unistall  avast and install another antivirus, the best of the problemwas ocurring in the lasth 2 month of my subscriptions(  to no renovated)

Some help for UI failed to load problem here:

To uninstall Avast cleanly, make sure you use the avastclear.exe uninstaller that can be downloaded from Avast.

I tried all the step suggested included a full uninstall an reinstalled after the use of the avast clean utility and the problem remain, the notebook  now is bein used by my brother.
The main problem now is in certain start of the desktop computer, avast not load(red icon), but after a restart start fine.

If things are not still working well then:
1) Repair of Avast will fix it. If not,
2) a clean removal (using avastclear) before a fresh installation should work.
I have found that when you clean install Avast, or Avast version is updated, it is necessary to perform more than one Restarts to settle things down.
Post a screenshot to illustrate your problem.
Do you have Win8.1 on that computer?
Also is it Avast free version or paid version?
