What happened to resolved files?
« on: July 05, 2020, 05:03:51 PM »
After a scan, I had a message that there were 32 files that would be hacker targets.  Mostly because of their names ( 2020 W2, 2019 Tax Return, etc). I hit the resolve button, but now those files are gone.  They are not in the recycle bin. Any way to recover or locate those files?

oh, and does anyone else have a hard time with verification codes? Im old and honestly request a new image about 8 times before I can read all of the characters... (listen is not an option, wakes the wife)

You need to provide more information.
Was it a Smart Scan you ran?

What's your OS?
What product and version of Avast do you have installed?
What components have you chosen to install? (See Screenshot: Add/Modify Components)
Sounds like "Sensitive Data Shield"

This message "I had a message that there were 32 files that would be hacker targets." sounds more like what would be seen in the Avast Free version (?) trying to sell the Ransomware/Sensitive Data protection (which is now in the Avast Free product).

So to me, given this message, Resolve would/should have either protected the files/folders (not removed them) or offered a purchase screen for protection by the Avast Premium product (or the Ransomware Shield, but that is now a part of Avast Free).

I ran a Smart Scan, knowing it had previously found some and it notified about them and resolve brought up the Purchase screen, the files weren't deleted.

EDIT: Attached images.
