Avast GUI open every time at startup

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I reverted to v20.4.5312 (June 2020) and problem is gone.
Found an offline installer and disabled version automatic update, until this issue is solved by the developer.
I believe my PCs are not exposed to any danger, as the new version didn't bring any major improvement (on the contrary, I'd say).

I rarely restart my computer but I have just checked several times (voluntarily) that the problem was also present for me with Avast 20.5.2415 (version 20.5.5410.584)
2 hours after starting my W7 64b (Or when I leave the sleep mode more than 2 hours later) the release notes appear then when I close them, the UI opens.
I tried to repair , but it doesn't change anything.
I wouldn't send the logs to avast though, as it's not worth the trouble.

edit:since this morning, I restarted 4 times (minimum for 2 hours) ... the UI no longer opened. Waiting for tomorrow

Something appears to have changed after the update to build 584   [Avast Free v20.5.2415 (build 20.5.5410.584)].

On all (3) of my Win10 and Win7 machines I got one last "GUI opening at Startup" and since then it has not happened again.
Not sure if the random opening after a few hours running is still happening - but so far that appears to have gone as well.

Very often the random GUI opening at a later time was preceded by a large notification about having recently upgraded to version 20.5 - but this too kept happening repeatedly. I must have had this 4 or 5 times on each machine so I am hoping that this has also stopped.

On my Win7 machine the popup is gone too. But not before a day where it suddenly was a 'You're running the latest version' popup, or some message to that effect.

Probably that was the intended popup.

The UI opened up for me today while I was in the middle of doing something here on the forum.
That was about 1 hour after I had started the computer in the morning.
I've reported it to Avast.

Coincidence or not, but it corresponds with the VPS update (ver. 200726-6) at the same time (9:05 am)

Just not seeing it here.  Or rather, I have seen it once after the 20.5.2415 program update restart and have VPS version 200727-0.

That said generally on this win10 laptop it doesn't get turned off unless there is a need to do so, program update or win10 update, etc.

Though this was in the beta sub-forum, I guess it would extend to the regular program stream.

It could have something to do with the Network scan and specifically the " Enable notification of new devices on this network " setting. After I had enabled that this weekend, the Avast GUI opened with every start-up. When I had disabled it again, the issue was gone.

The problem is back. I just had the main GUI popup again. This time after exactly 8 hours, to the second.

The GUI at startup is still happening after the v20.6 update - but my experience is that it is happening less often.
If you restart the computer the GUI will not normally appear again - but I have seen it twice in the same day if the startups are far enough apart (e.g. morning and evening) - so there seems to be a timer involved.

I am also still seeing an occasional Avast GUI opening while working on the computer - but again less often than before the v20.6 update. This can be very annoying as it steals focus from the application you are working in - and you end up typing into a void until you click back into your working window. Seeing as Avast has the "Do Not Disturb" feature for full screen apps it is super annoying that it is exhibiting this behaviour - as the developers obviously understand how disruptive this can be.

It happens to me every single day now. 11 hours in. 12 hours in. But always exactly on whole hours since boot. It is really starting to annoy the hell out of me because it steals focus from whatever I'm doing.

It seems to pop open random now without reason. Sometimes at startup. but most it now happens when i do things at the pc.

And the bad thing is, i told avast to run in silent mode and it still happens. Silent mode would be nice to be default. Never leave silent mode here.
