I just happened to be Exploring through my "C:\Program Files (x86)" and noticed several files & corresponding folders, all starting with GUM:

Fri 07/10/2020 10:40:05.31>dir | find "GUM"
06/07/2020  01:09 PM    <DIR>          GUM6835.tmp
06/04/2020  08:03 PM    <DIR>          GUM8DB.tmp
06/08/2020  02:03 PM    <DIR>          GUMA33.tmp
06/07/2020  07:03 PM    <DIR>          GUMC948.tmp
06/07/2020  01:19 PM    <DIR>          GUMDD0B.tmp
06/05/2020  04:03 PM    <DIR>          GUME0FE.tmp
06/08/2020  09:03 AM    <DIR>          GUME7D0.tmp
06/02/2020  09:03 AM    <DIR>          GUME83B.tmp
06/05/2020  09:26 AM    <DIR>          GUMEA30.tmp

Fri 07/10/2020 10:40:25.68>pwd
C:\Program Files (x86)

What are these and why are they not self-cleaned after usage, (suspecting an Update by-product)?

Hi,

The creation of these tmp folders is normal behaviour during an initial install or during an upgrade. These folders should get removed once the process is completely, but there are situations where that may not happen. If files cannot be removed because they are locked then they should be flagged for removal after a restart. If the process was killed or crashed during the update then the tmp folder may not get removed. So, in the general sense, what you're seeing is expected behaviour.

Hi, I'm having the same issue, seeing these folders as well as temp files created directly in my program files folder, instead of the avast sub folder.  is it okay to go ahead and delete these manually?
