Windows Vista RC1

I have the new windows Vista RC1 installed. But i can't get avast to work good. The on acces scanner does not work. When  i try to start the avast service manually I get the following error:
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

I too have the same problem. - I even went to the toruble of uninstalling avaqst and redownloading the "vista compatible" version and installed that with no benefit. Non of the resident scanners work, but you can run a scan with the main program.

Any suggestions?

Exactly, it's all over the forum and best of all, newest beta release of avast! work as a charm on Vista RC1 Build 5600.

Have a question about dual booting, if I were to dual boot Vista RC 1 with my current XP pro, how would I choose what OS I want to boot? Will Vista have a interface where you choose what system you want to boot? (like Grub in Linux) or will I need my own software such as Norton Partition Magic's Boot Manager?

Control Panel > System > options for initialization (the same as XP).
Other possibility is using VistaBootPRO 2.1 Beta (http://www.vistabootpro.org/)

Found it, thanks, using this I can switch between defual operating systems, which would mean that I can make Vista, then XP the OS that boot each time, right? Or am I just way off?

Yes.
1. Install Vista.
2. Use the Advanced System Settings > Startup and Recovery settings to set which will be your default OS and the time the Vista boot menu will wait for a choose.
3. Boot to Vista or XP.

If you want, you can, after booting with Vista, download, install and use VistaBootPRO 2.1 Beta tool (http://www.vistabootpro.org/), a GUI to change the boot settings on Vista.
