My personal UI favorite was V7 - just for the record. ;)

Avast 7 wasn't bad, some images here - https://expertvista.com/2012/avast-7/
Avast 6 was very similar.

For me Avast 8 was the start of the rot, with the introduction of the new Microsoft Tiles (massive) interface style (that everyone and their friend was copying.  Though the nice background image never got to fruition (outside of the blog article) that I can recall - https://blog.avast.com/2013/03/28/the-avast-8-user-interface/

Yes I also like version 7 compared to what has evolved since.
And do agree with  David's comment on Avast UI (version 8's unfortunate direction)

I totally agreed with the comments by TheOwner and rocksteady.

And, I had pointed out that we need a stable and reliable AV as well as no needed resources-ate monster for many years ago.
Now, Avast still make the bulky and push the buggy upgrade to end-users even the paid version.....

Have Avast listen what customer needs indeed ???

It is not feature at all, but please give us back OK and CANCEL button in settings. It is so important, because prevents from any missclick, which can be very dangerous on security software.

You should also add some kind of a backup system for the avast premium security users, i mean some kind of a data backup.

What kind of data? You can already back up your Avast settings.

I was a little unclear, i meant like a storage vault for your personal files, similar to what for example norton offers, like a data backup for your important files.

Important files stored on your computer regardless of how safe don't help when the harddrive fails. That's why you creat an image backup on a regular basis
or, save them to the cloud. Both Google ans Microsoft make sincing to the cloud very easy. There are also other companies that offer the same thing.

Hi,

I would like to see as new feature: a device control shield. To control external HD´s, flash drives, etc.

-Where you can block unknown devices or the ones designated by you and detected by Avast

- Where you can unlock or whist other devices connected to your computer.

Kind Regards,

In Avast Free, disable any pop-up ads that urge you to upgrade to the paid version. ;)
They are useless. If one wants to switch to the paid version, he doesn't do it because he keeps seeing this pop-up, unfortunately these pop-ups instead do nothing but make Avast Free users switch to other free antivirus solutions.
Thank you and good day!

I personally don't know of any free AV's that don't on occasion try to get you to upgrade to the paid version.

Couldn't agree more, it is the cost of free, certainly in the case of Avast.

I obviously have a higher pain threshold :) in fact at times it brings a smile to my face as to how pathetic/dumb some of them are.  I just ignore them.  None are going to get a positive action for me, so essentially they are a waste of time.

You do have a choice, if they bug them that much you can vote with your feet.

Hello Avast team,
you are thinking about adding new features because you MUST release new version each month, but most of those features are more or less bloatware. This product became very fat over time. What about remove unnecessary bloat from this product and make it lightweight with minimum impact on computer performance? Try think about that.
Correct.

Quote
Removing ads, spyware and bloatware and focus on pure performance and detection, then you maybe bring back Avast users you already lost.  But this is your product, do what you want.
Also agreed but paying customers deserve to have their voices heard and improvements made, or Avast will likely lose more customers. This isn't an issue just with Avast but with many bloated AVs. Avast is not nearly the worst in this regard, but it could be much much leaner.

Gaming Edition
Echoing the sentiment that the poll doesn't let you actually voice your opinion, only to say if the new features Avast is considering are important to you, or VERY important to you. I think a gaming edition is a bad idea. Why would you want a themed antivirus? If you only played a specific game on your PC, and did nothing else, that might make sense but it's still unnecessary and implies Avast doesn't need improvement, when it still does. Furthermore graphical flourishes and themes slow down the software, and the OS. These effects are often bottlenecked by the speed of a single thread, so even as PCs get more CPUs, such themes perform significantly worse than using the native Windows user interface APIs to draw normal, less fancy Windows. Themed antivirus is a very dated concept and in my opinion a bad idea overall. Further, having a second "edition" will just create confusion, waste resources that could be spent on improving the main application.

Internet speed test
We don't need this. A few of the features are just things that web browsers or web sites already provide. Making the AV even bigger with unwanted features doesn't benefit anyone- please invest the resources and time instead in slimming and improving the program so people want to use it.

Thanks for asking for your users' feedback!
