You can use the restore as many times as you like and save it to a location of your choice. Backup the settings when you install would give you a start point, but that would effectively be the same as the reset all defaults option.
If you want to make some changes, back up your settings before doing it. If you experience a problem restore the last backup. Not dissimilar to windows restore points.
I was referring to a situation where i could have changed something and it didn't give any problems immediately, but would give problems later, maybe much later, when i would not remember what change have i made and when. I would not know what restore point to get.
In this case, today, my problem was with comodo firewall. I thought it was avast because avast shows more messages, specially about dangerous apps and sites. All i had to do was go to comodo where it showed blocked applications and unblock firefox. While on there i noticed it blocked other things on the same occasion without notifying me at all, and i unblocked them too, as i though it was reasonable. Comodo system is better. No need to backup anything, no need to have restore points.
