Let's be totally realistic.
Most people will purchase one computer. They'll buy the one the they can afford.
At this point,  97%  choose one that comes with windows pre-installed. (it's much cheaper)
If they've chooses a computer where their processor is a dual-core processor, they should be able to add
OSX and/or Linux or any other operating system to that computer.
They should not have to purchase another computer just to use a different operating system.

Especially since the technology to do this already available.

.:Mac:. isn't the one to make the decision to make Apple's software for pc's.  If he agrees with you will OSX be available for pc use?

If Apple does make their os available for pc use they will still sell computers as well as their os.  All the reviews I have read on computers have Apples on top and Apples support also comes out on top for best costomer support.  Apple has about 3% of the market & I think more than 3% want top of the line computers, so I think their computers sales might increase if Mac & Windows os could be as easy to install on all computers.  Maybe that is why Apple came out with boot camp to run windows on Macs?  Apple just needs to go to the next step...no hindrances to using their os on pc & no need for boot camp for Windows to run on Macs.

Right I dont make the choice I just repair the machines when they break. I actually agree that apple should sell the OS but my opinion means nothing unless im on the apple board of directors which clearly I am not

Hi,

Even if they did release OS X for PC, and their hardware sales did drop, they would still make money off of iTunes and iPod sales, plus their software for the OS X operating system.

Mac,
This will increase business not decrease it.

When computers first came out, all of my co-worker got scared.
"They will take our jobs away. They will not need people any more."

That's all you heard.  Computers are here. I never lost my job, I just increased my knowledge and skill
and made more money than ever before.

Progress and change is something to look forward to. It isn't something to be afraid of.  :)

I'm not trying to put you or any one else out of business.
I'm trying to increase Apple's business.  :)

I thought that Apple's motto is: THINK DIFFERENT !

Well, I strongly believe this is the right time to think different.

And Kyle... why are you worried so much dude ? Such a good technician as yourself will never ever stay without a job. Selling OSX to PC users doesn't mean Apple is going down, it just means, Apple's market will even grow. Many Apple users will never ever switch to PC no matter what happens, but this would help a lot of people to check some other possibilities out there. I am sure this would just help Apple make even more money.

I believe that all this OSX to PC story is already so deep that's practically impossible to stop it at this point. It even runs faster on PCs than on Apple architecture. Take a look at this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvlvWL3B6qM (PC booting to OSX86 faster than OSX on a Mac)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2tAhXHPfBs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncLovswd6aE (I actually tried it on my laptop and it works flawlessly)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SpV0uHylN8&mode=related&search= (OSX86 10.4.6 on my machine again)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh5c6G1H4dE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnUW88-aTSA

And who said just Intel is capable of running OSX ? Well, he is wrong:

Have no clue Kyle, but it's been reported many times. And there are few good videos on YouTube showing the same. I also compared my OSX86 installation with my friends who brought his PowerBook. It really boots quite faster than on his machine. I am talking about my Intel Pentium 4 HyperThreading Technology Laptop. Haven't tried anything with my desktop which is AMD Athlon XP 3000+

EDIT: Kyle do not think that we are trying to put Apple down with these comments... we are just trying to get freedom of choice. I personally would really like to see OSX for PC machines. That would allow many people to finally decide which way to go...

PowerBook = PowerPC processor
Compare it to an intel machine

Hi Kyle!

Have no clue because I don't know anyone around that have MacBook or MacBook Pro, so I can not test them the way I would like to. All I know for now is that OSX runs perfectly smooth on my machine and it is unbelievable fast. Even all those bells and whistles (animated effects etc.). It also boots very fast. I'm just thinking, if you can get all those effects running at even higher speeds than I am able to get them here on my machine, how would that look like... like a fast forwarded movie or something. Not much gain...

it boots much faster and performs much better on intel than on PowerPC so I would say an intel mac would be close to your PC's speed or better (it should be with the Core Duo)
