If a virus is replicant (coming and coming again), you should:

1) Disable System Restore on Windows ME: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q264887
2) Clean your temporary files.
3) Use a-squared or Spyware Terminator (trojan removers).
The best things in life are free.

Ok try this download a-squared free and update, update Spybot, and ad-aware clean your temp. files Disable your  Windows Me System Restore
here is the link for a-squared http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

Ad aware settings
click "Check for updates now" in the lower right.
* Click "Connect" and then "OK".
* When the updating process finishes, click "Finish".
* Click on the gear icon in the upper right (Settings).
* Click "Scanning".
* Select:
- "Scan within archives"
- "Scan my IE Favorites for banned URLs"
- "Scan my hosts file"
* Click "Tweaks".
* Click "Cleaning Engine".
* Select "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion".
* Click "Proceed".
* Click "Start".
* Select "Use custom scanning options".
* Click "Next" and wait for the scanning process to complete.
* Select all the items found for removal. ("Removal" actually puts things in quarantine, so you can generally recover them if you need to.)

After that scan with Spybot S&D and a-squared

 :)  Hi Sarethor :

      You should have a program that is geared to dealing
      with trojans, an antiTROJAN program . And based on
      your Win ME OS, as SNOWHITE said, that should be
     "a-squared Free", with the link she gave which provides
      info about the program. To actually download the
      program, go to :
      www.emsisoft.com/en/software/download .

Sarethor: Just deleting various files will not clear your system, you need to remove the root problem.  As a recommendation I would suggest you visit http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Malware_Removal_HiJackThis_Logs_Go_Here-f37.html and post a HJT log.  When my training is complete I will be able to help, but till then ask these experts....

I would hope it didn't detect them as you already detected them and sent them to the avast chest where they could do no harm.

I'm at a loss as to why you went to Trend Micro as you haven't reported any avast related problem/s. Why did you feel it necessary to switch ?

I assume that you have uninstalled avast as it isn't recommended to have two resident AVs installed on the same system, even if one is disabled. If you did uninstall avast the contents of the chest will also have been removed during the uninstall.

No they aren't back. All files that were in the chest are deleted when you uninstall avast, so you don't have the ability to restore any files should the detection be false. You only find that out if after a short period of time you notice adverse effects after moving a file to the chest or by investigation and or validation at one of the on-line multi-engine scanners virustotal or jotti.

rather than asking more questions about the problems you have , Why not follow the advice which you have already been given.
Have you downloaded A squared?  Have you downloaded HJT ?  If so post a log and we can help
anything could cause your screen to have problems.
good luck :)
