Hi,

I dont know if somebody mentioned it before, but there is issue with Avast rewards for bringing new friends - There is old version of UI with old avast licences as rewards

Can you explain exactly what the issue is ?
e.g. what did you do/try and what were the results/errors.
Without that I don't think that they can investigate.

Hi, I'm wondering if the most recent update resulted in some issue regarding an icon myself and some others spotted regarding full scans.

See: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=236842.0
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=236831.0
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=236971.0.

Certainly I didn't notice any icons prior to the update, and they show up on Full Scans with 0 detections.

Known issues:
• Instup.exe and Icarus.exe generating a lot of FW rules and asking for permission
This has been fixed now.

BRING BACK
Open Old setting in trouble shooting.

That was ONLY way we could make Exceptions for Shields and SHIELDS only, this new trash GUI yes trashy I never liked from day one, only allow us to make exclusions for EVERYTHING manual Scans and shield Which I dont want.

I went to make and exclusion a few week ago for process/file/folder and again today. I DONT WANT to make exclusion to exclude it from manual scans.. JUST SHIELD

Or at very lest bring the ability  to exclude files/process/folders from SHIELD in to the new trashy GUI

If there are any questions or criticisms about the quality of Avast, my user experience has given me no awareness of them.  I use the free version and Avast 20.6 is pleasingly uneventful.  I am still puzzled about WiFi Inspector but have received no warnings about actual network issues.  A year or two back, WiFi Inspector made me aware of an issue with a Dlink wireless router.  A firmware update was forthcoming via the ISP and WiFi Inspector went quiet.

I am very happy to have the protection of Avast.

Any particular reason there are two instances of AvastUI.exe running?

Mentioned many times before, doing different things on two instances is quicker than doing multiple tasks on one instance of the executable.  Have you ever looked at how many instances there are for your browser (?), currently I have 13 instances if firefox.exe.

I wonder what a UI needs more than one executable for. It really isn't doing many things at once. If at all. The AV itself, maybe, but the UI... unlikely. One isn't even accruing CPU time, even over hours and hours of uptime. It's just sitting there, eating memory. It would be nice to know why. Actual information. Instead of an irrelevant tangent. That's all.

Well you would have to read the forums to see the additional functionality that is done in the background.  For instance at lease 1 instance has to be running in the event that you get an alert.

Currently I have 1 instance running and that is using the massive sum of 0.7mb of ram, if you are concerned with these levels of ram usage you should be considering you RAM quantity and programs that use way more RAM than this.  If it is inactive then surely it won't be eating RAM.

My desktop calendar used 1.7MB and that is pretty static, were Firefox is currently using 2GB over 14 processes.  RAM is there to be used and would be freed if required by the OS.
