Rather than finding workarounds to use a beta version, I think avast should work to propose at least 2 themes on the official version.
I understand that some may find this new UI aggressive to the eyes with this high contrast effect.
And while I personally don't mind, it would be nice to give us the choice with the release version.

Since this is more likely to be UI related rather than using a beta version, I have the latest avast free program version and UI 1.0.552 and I'm just not seeing this high contrast UI that you mention.

High Contrast wouldn't help those who are colour blind if the problem colour Green (in the instance reported) is still being used for the check-marks.

Care to post a couple of the aggressive contrast that you mention.

I never said that this new interface has been modified for colorblind people as supposed above by "NON"(and that it was the source of the annoyance), but that it has become more aggressive with bigger characters as noticed by several people Here.
Although the majority prefer this display (proof that there has been a change  ;) ), others like TheOwner are embarrassed and would like to go back to something less flashy....which the latest beta version allows to switch to "OMNI" theme/design.
If I talked about the beta version, it's because it allowed what the release version does not (switch to OMNI display) ,it's the only reason for my comment about bêta rather than a possible bug that would be fixed with the beta version. ;)

As I said I haven't seen it, which is why I asked for screenshots of what it is you are seeing.  As I don't see anything like that with avast! free 20.6.2420 (build 20.6.5495.588) UI-1.0.552.  And I haven't seen it in the post that you referenced.

The other thing is that I possibly spend more time in the UI than many (in regard to question asked in the forums), outside of that I rarely need to go into the UI.

Well I still think it is a natural guess that this change is for color-blind people, as there is a topic related to that recently. And I really don't understand why my former post makes so much "annoyance" you said ???
Liking may differ every people and nothing can fulfill all demands at the same time, right?

I don't know why Avast team chose to change background brightness instead of check-marks, but it's their decision anyway.

In any case, I don't intend to argue you guys anymore about this issue, it makes no real benefit but flames. If needed, Avast team will explain the reason of this change.

my issue has been passed on to the devs to look into but just to agree with Chris on this one, loading the beta is not the best work around for the majority on here who are not techy savy. especially if something goes wrong and the usual advice we seem to get offered is to do a clean install. this wont help those that use password manager as new installs as far as ive read will not work anymore as password manager has been removed or deactivated.

Just to clarify, if you currently have and are using PW Mgr. you'll be able to re-install it. You may need help directly from Avast.
You will not wind up not having access to your passwords.
I would recommend that you start to phase out the Avast Password manager as outline here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=236960.msg1556900#msg1556900

@NON
sorry, the annoyance I was talking about was not related to what you were saying about colorblind people (no doubt a confusion in what I wrote due to my bad english) but to the visual annoyance that the new interface can cause.
I repeat, personally I don't mind, especially since I don't use password.

@DavidR
I no longer have a screenshot of the old UI to give a comparison, but what is certain is that the home screen (with "this computer is protected" & smartscan) has become thicker and bigger (more flashy) as said by other users.
On the other hand the colors have not changed, if that's what you want to know, it's just a little brighter/contrast to my eyes.

As you said here it's not always easy to contact avast to re-install password when you have a free version of avast , even more difficult when users are in foreign sections where no contact with avast staff on the forum is possible

Thanks for that, for my eyes the difference hasn't been that great to make it really noticeable.  Screen size and resolution may also have something to do with that.

As for the Smart Scan element on the Main UI screen the text is bolder.  My guess is there is so much empty space on that screen they may have made it bolder.

Whilst we are on the subject of the UI, personally I would rather the UI window was user resizeable, something I have been saying for a very long time (for the most part it is too damn big). I would also like to see that main UI window is also moveable and it stays there when you next open it, not front an centre.
