Starting at the end of July, Microsoft has begun detecting HOSTS files that block Windows 10 telemetry servers as a 'Severe' security risk :

MS protecting their ASSets, which is nothing new, but this at first glance would appear to be Windows Defender related.

I don't use Defender obviously and I don't allow it to run periodic scans either.
