I couldn't find this information anywhere;

What happens to a file when it is flagged by Avast but the virus chest is full? Is it deleted?

I had a program, Registry Repair Pro by 3B, I've used for many years. When I went to open it Avast popped up saying it was infected with Win32:Malware-gen. Now the .exe file is gone. It is not in the virus chest, which appears to have reached is maximum size, which I have since enlarged. I searched my entire computer with no luck. Even a recovery program (Recuva) was unable to recover the file.

Does Avast still have the file hidden somewhere? Is there any chance of recovering it?

Its a program I paid for. The company has apparently gone out of business and I cannot find it to download, every link is broken. :-[
