Screen blacks out when idle
« on: August 14, 2020, 07:49:47 PM »
Good day everyone!

I just recently installed Avast Free Antivirus and whenever my laptop is idle or when i go AFK for quite sometime, my display gets black. Its like turning off the display when my laptop is inactive for some time. I am not experiencing these prior installing Avast. I can't find it in the settings as well. Appreciate your help.

What do you mean by " when i go AFK for quite sometime, my display gets black." ?

What operating system and avast version are you using ?

I'm using the latest regular release version of avast free and a windows 10 64bit laptop and I don't experience anything different from my windows power settings, see attached image.

That said for the most part when leaving the laptop for a while I close the lid anyway.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I'm at a loss as to why this might be happening, as far as I'm aware the default installation of avast doesn't have any battery saver settings.

There is however a paid option for Avast Battery Saver (see attached image and note the padlock), a paid function and not installed.  Do you happen to have a paid version of (or the trial version) of the Avast Battery Saver ?

Check your setting and change the screen turn off time if it's too short for you.

Already asked.

Check the OPs #Reply2 image as his power settings is set to never turn off the screen.
