Unable to install Avast Secureline VPN on my laptop
« on: August 21, 2020, 06:14:41 PM »
I downloaded the setup and tried to run it, but now it says "Setup Failed" with the following message.

"This Operating System is not supported. Error code: '45056'. More information in log: 'C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Icarus\Logs\sfx.log " This leads to an empty text document.

But isn't Avast supposed to run on Windows 7? What should I do?

You need at lease Windows 7 SP1. If you haven't updated to Service Pack 1, than that's the reason.

Hi,

Inaddition, if you have Windows 7 SP1, but you still have installion issues, then it could be related to the bug in SecureLine (devs are working on a fix).
Could you try this workaround, please.
- Uninstall SecureLine application (via Programs and Features) - https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Uninstall-SecureLine-VPN

-  Delete the following folders:
   C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\SecureLine
   C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\SecureLine VPN
   C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\SecureLine
   C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\SecureLine VPN

- Restart PC

-  Install Avast SecureLine again - run the file avast_secureline_setup.exe as administrator.
