claim your loyalty discount
« on: August 28, 2020, 07:28:47 AM »
I've got this aggressive (claim your loyalty discount) popup that I keep closing but keeps coming back and this is just one day. Is it going to keep doing this? Is this even Avast?
I had an Image, but I have no idea how to post it so, it says:

Avast Premium Security
Claim your loyalty discount
Extend your Premium Security before August 30 and save 29%
Extend now

You can use the 'Attachments and other options' below the text input screen to attach images.  Click to expand.

Same issue here.  It's enough for me to quit using avast.

Hi All,

I am also getting this aggressive popup regularly even though I have silenced all notifications through the Avast settings feature.  As per the community's request, I am attaching two screenshots of the Avast notification, one is the initial notification and the second is the checkout notification directly following the first.  Please advise whether this is coming from AVAST or a possible hack.  If it is coming from AVAST, I would like to know how to silence it, if it is a hack, I would like to know how to remove it.  And if  AVAST is responsible and I cannot silence it, I will terminate my subscription due to the obnoxiousness of this ad ploy.

You can disable the ads in the paid versions: Avast GUI -> Settings -> Personal Privacy

Hi Asyn,

Thanks for the quick response--but I have a paid version called Avast Premium Security (formerly Avast Premier), which will auto renew on November 30, 2020. I had unchecked all boxes under Personal Privacy a long time ago (see attached).  If I am programmed to auto-renew, there is no need for this pop-up, which is incessantly popping up every hour while I am on the PC and bothering the sh** out of me. WTF Avast?

Even if and when this bonus popup should be offered, bug or not.

Personally I feel this loyalty bonus thing shouldn't have to be CLAIMED, if avast feel you are deserving of a loyalty bonus then it should be given automatically upon renewal.

I'm thinking a reasonable sum would 15% off the current price in the first year and lets say 20% in subsequent renewals.

Users shouldn't have to Claim it, rather than actually starting to look for a cheaper price, you only have to look on-line for Avast Premium, etc. licenses any you will find some legit options (not hacked licenses, etc. that are likely to get pulled/blocked by Avast).

Treat loyal customers as just that, loyal and give them an automatic renewal bonus.  Not too long ago this was the normal action, why stop.  After 80% of something is better than 100% of sod all if you hack off paying customers.

All this from a Loyal Avast Free(loader) user, no discount required :)

I wonder if this topic is ultimately the same thing as what's going on in here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=235181.0

I rather doubt that, based on your comment in the other post:

It has a PID of 9344 and it looks like it is related to an attempt to send data through Google Analytics (even though I have all settings that are available related to sharing data disabled).

The UI uses google analytics in relation to your use of the User Interface, in the Personal Privacy section.
I use the avast Free version so my settings have less options than paid versions, are you saying that you have unchecked that option on app_usage ?

EDIT: That said, this bug was meant to have been fixed.
Note, it should be fixed now. Please reboot your system and report back.

True, though there definitely seems like something is going on with popups in general lately.

Just had this other kind of popup appear despite all settings related to useless popups/ads being off.

I haven't seen this popup at all and I have the free version, were I would have thought I'd be more likely to see it.  I have to go into the Settings to see the stats data and generally I have no interest in historic stats/data outside of forum questions.
