NEW Avast Version 20.7 (August/September 2020)
« on: September 01, 2020, 12:41:21 PM »
Hi all, please welcome Avast version 20.7 (20.7.2425)

The latest news:
  • Signing in via Google or Facebook - If you choose one of these to sign in, we’ll now redirect you to their websites instead of doing it inside of our app
  • Fixed shield statuses - The on/off statuses for Password Protection and Remote Access Shield are now properly reflected in your UI. (Avast Premium Security only)
  • Improved performance - Your antivirus now runs even smoother thanks to tighter integrations with the Windows registry and boot optimizations

Something extra for out beta users:
  • In the latest 20.7 BETA version, you can now try GUI in the updated design (based on our Avast Omni edition). Just go to Settings -> General -> Troubleshooting -> Theme. Please note that some UI parts are still in the original design and that there are improvements yet to be made in navigation. Though we would like to hear your opinion in this early stage.

From 100+ tasks related to this release, here’s some highlights of things we’ve fixed and improved:
  • The incorrect yellow dashboard state after a new version was released, even though auto-updates were on
  • The incorrect "expired" dashboard status after an upgrade from free to paid [AVG only]
  • SmartScan stopping caused UI freezing in some cases
  • Firewall Public mode was not blocking ICMP responses while scanning, but now it does
  • Fixed impact of new CEF on IPM content and IDP
  • Fixes in restoring settings from backup files
  • Changing language needed you to restart, which was not intended
  • The incorrect handling of file size in virus chest was preventing more files to be added
  • Rescue disk now checks for USB drive size

How to install:

1. Update from your existing Avast version via Settings -> Update -> Update program
2. Or you can download and install files:

Online installers (recommended):
Offline installers:

We hope you enjoy the new version and big thanks to all that made this happen!

Now I have 4 AvastUI.exe processes (5 when GUI is opened) and memory usage is insane.
Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Edit :

OK, memory usage is fine now, but I still have 4 AvastUI.exe processes running.

I had to uninstall Avast after today's update, it had a memory leak. It was taking up more than 32 GB and growing. Once uninstalled, the problem was gone.

Yes, now 4 AvastUI.exe processes are running (5 when GUI is opened). Before update I had only 2 AvastUI.exe processes (3 when GUI was opened). How many AvastUI.exe processes will be after next update? 6 or 8?  :-\

Had to do restore system on windows 7. Processor was constantly at 13% and I kept having memory leaks. It was impossible to do anything.  :(

Hello,
i am getting errors in Windows Event Viewer, more info here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=237553.0

Other problems:
Statistics seams dead for me, i browsed many websites and Avast still says 0 connections tested. After some PC restarts i finally see some numbers, so statistics are not "live".
UI contrast change is awful and cause only pain in eyes.
Windows start seems little faster which is one plus I see.

I have to say i am disappointed, previous version was good (before UI contrast change).

Btw. Chrome marked offline version as unsafe for download. Also dont understand why offline version are offered trough http and online version trough https.

I don't see any memory leak here. A screenshot would help.
Also guys having an issue should start your own topic than to post it here.

Manage passwords is now  broken.  I can not show passwords, all I can edit is to delete a password.

That link helps -- sort of. The options are there we just can not see them.  That is still a bug in the new release. The color scheme needs to be changed.
