That link helps -- sort of. The options are there we just can not see them.  That is still a bug in the new release. The color scheme needs to be changed.
You're welcome. The devs are working on a fix.

hello, not sure what is happening with my avast but after the update, the Avast Service is continually running taking 30% of CPU nonstop. 3 reboots have solved nothing, neither has a full shutdown. why is this happening?? How do I fix this?

hello guys,
after upgrading to 2.7.2425 the pc (win7 sp1) started to lag around extensively. every action was laggy caused by a enormous amount of cpu usage. not only by avast, but by the opened programs too. vivaldi or firefox for example needed much more time than usual and once started, they were laggy as well, as every keyboard stroke.
disabling of avast did not help, so i deinstalled avast and this issue was gone. everything back to a normal, quick and fast response.
i deinstalled avast via the deinstalling tool to get rid of everything. then i installed it again.
same issue as before. the pc is slow again. so i got rid of avast again and the pc is again nice and fast.

please check your possibility to solve this issue, or maybe provide a possibility to revert the update to 2.6.2420. thank you!
alex

I have withdrawn the comment.  I overlooked an important factor, Power Options, which invalidated what I wrote.

The variables created by changing the power options just before installing Avast 20.7 were sufficient to affect the perceived effects as displayed in Task Manager of updating from Avast 20.6 to 20.7.  I am now satisified that Avast 20.7 works well and I changed this comment as soon as I was aware of my error so as not to offer confusing information to others.

Same problem as already listed auto upgraded to latest version few days ago  and ever since my pc running premium has been extremely slow often crashing chrome and avast itself constantly running at 100% cpu usage (avast services 35% and avast installer 37%) and slowly increasing memory usage until it hits  90+% and just stops responding shortly after.
did a full uninstall and reinstall and every thing seems to be back to normal.

Now I have 4 AvastUI.exe processes (5 when GUI is opened) and memory usage is insane.
Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Edit :

OK, memory usage is fine now, but I still have 4 AvastUI.exe processes running.

Same here 4 AvastUI.exe. Is this supposed to be normal? Can anyone with more knowledge confirm this?

you're lucky, as far I'm concerned ,  it's 5 processes and 6 when the IU is opened.

Those several AvastUI.exe processes are in demand paged virtual memory so if they not executing then the RAM that was allocated to them will be reallocated to other processes as required.  If they become active again then they can be paged back into RAM.

I congratulate all those who work to develop antivirus software that is beginning to be the negation of a simple antivirus.
We move from the hidden and no longer accessible settings, to the geek: area (even for an operation such as deleting the scan history which should be easily accessible right in the Settings interface) and now to the transfer of almost all the Settings in the System Registry Windows https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=237546.0 and this to the delight of average users who have already lined up to attend the Faculty of Computer Science and then use this antivirus correctly and do no damage to the Windows Registry.
We are not talking about the numerous flaws that are found with each subsequent update.
Despite being in possession of a Premium license and still having about 7 months available before the next possible renewal, I decided to uninstall the software some time ago.
I will eventually return to install it only if they will make available to users a light version (so perhaps never), which does its job with dignity, without the "complications" and "trappings" added from time to time and which gives us back software such as the one I used for many years (and this despite having good technological and IT knowledge).

Something extra for out beta users:
  • In the latest 20.7 BETA version, you can now try GUI in the updated design (based on our Avast Omni edition). Just go to Settings -> General -> Troubleshooting -> Theme. Please note that some UI parts are still in the original design and that there are improvements yet to be made in navigation. Though we would like to hear your opinion in this early stage.
Hi, TBH, I never was (and probably never will be) a fan of the Omni design/style. Just for the record. ;)
Nevertheless, I think it's good to give users a choice (like the skins we had in the good old days of v4.x).
