Something extra for out beta users:
  • In the latest 20.7 BETA version, you can now try GUI in the updated design (based on our Avast Omni edition). Just go to Settings -> General -> Troubleshooting -> Theme. Please note that some UI parts are still in the original design and that there are improvements yet to be made in navigation. Though we would like to hear your opinion in this early stage.

Hi, TBH, I never was (and probably never will be) a fan of the Omni design/style. Just for the record. ;)

Nevertheless, I think it's good to give users a choice (like the skins we had in the good old days of v4.x).

The whole UI needs a complete rework, with a view to usability, in its current form it isn't intuitive and putting lipstick on a pig (as they say) is still a pig.  The size of this UI is still massive (with acres of empty space) and make no concession to a users screen resolution and allow it to be resized and or repositioned and stay where it was when reopened.

The whole geek:area is a completely undocumented hidden area, what are Avast afraid of, give a warning that changing settings can impact security, etc.  Even you get into the hidden area, it a single level and scrolling like there is no end to find settings, very poor.

Like Asyn, I loved the old style 4.x skins UI, Zero chance of that happening but allow the user to resize and reposition to suit their systems and use.

I agree with all of those comments.

Avast need to invest in human factors to focus on usability intuitiveness of the UI. Not paint over rust. The software quality mantra "get it right first time than struggle to fix it in service" is always in my thoughts. That means at the design stage, prior to any coding and testing.

Users here on the forum were at one time asked to nominate "old settings" for consideration to be kept alive. It is sad that we continue to see posts begging for a setting that is no longer present or supported, even in the ill conceived "geek-area".

Avast has historically itchy fingers when it come to the UI.  Change for change's sake seems to be the mantra.  The difficulties of non-technical Avast users are aggravated by the movable feast which is its UI design.  At the moment, we Avast users are in a good place and things seem reasonably stable but another UI tremor is probably only round the corner.

I am pleased with the considerably reduced nagging messages about the adverse effects on security and privacy by the lack of premium features.

I have used Avast for more than 15 years and would not use any other anti-malware software (I have occasionally strayed from the Avast path but have always returned after a brief interlude). However, I would always augment Avast with Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit and NoVirusThanks OSArmor.  This combination is very trouble free.

I am also one of the people affected by the high CPU or memory issue. I had to roll back my system since it was running out of memory.

Any idea when this issue is going to be resolved Avast?

Are the annoying pop-ups still appearing at the bottom right of the PC screen?
Thank you and good day!

What's new between version 20.7.5568.591 and version 20.7.5568.595?

My version is presently 20.7.5568.596 so I guess that minor updates, i.e. 591->595->596, are slid in automatically.

Please do not post the same problem twice. It makes offering help harder and wastes lots of time for those trying to help.

Hello,
I suggest adding the "quick auto scan" function also included in the USB flash drive scan function, obviously the user can choose whether to activate it or not by choosing the one on request.
So when you insert a USB drive, it will be scanned quickly and automatically in the background, without any warning and analysis screens, and will only pop up if a dangerous file is detected.

What do you think about it?hink about it?  :) ;)
