Ok, so i'm posting this issue here so maybe some interested people can see it. From the new 21 avast beta, the firewall toasters are really getting annoying. Not visually, but with the screen reader, every few minutes it says "pane" and then it puts me in this firewall thing where it says that it allowed some program to access the network. Thing is, is there even any way to disable these kinds of alerts? because this is now getting annoying as hell, and i think this should be implemented a bit differently.

Hi, you can adjust/disable it in the firewall settings.
W8.1 [x64] - Avast Free AV 23.3.8047.BC [UI.757] - Firefox ESR 102.9 [NS/uBO/PB] - Thunderbird 102.9.1

Thanks. I'll try. Although I wish there was a settings to add apps that wouldn't pop up toasters, but those that would, so say that there was something new trying to contact the network it would pop up, but if dropbox wanted to update itself it wouldn't.

You're welcome. Unfortunately, I can't say if there might be any issues with your screenreader involved.

It's not my screen reader, it's just how avast works. Thanks anyway. will figure it out.

Hi strakl,

thanks for reporting the issue. Do you know what app is firewall notifying you about? Is it the screen reader itself or a different app? Is the "Show notification about newly created allow rules" option allowed in your Firewall settings?

Best regards,
HK

No, it's notifying me for example, firewall has allowed dropbox installer to access the network, etc. do you get what i mean? and the thing goes away so fast but let's say i'm typing a document and this pops up, it goes to the window and dis appears if i don't click on it after a second or 2 and it's rather frustrating. Whenever something accesses the network, it shows that popup where it says that an app has been allowed and you have the close button.

Hey guys, another update, I have discovered that this isn't cause of the firewall toaster, it's allmost like sometimes something's trying to pop up, but when i asked my sighted people they have told me that thing shows up, that an app has accessed the network and that avast has allowed it, whenever something accesses the network, avast will display this weird thing for a second and dis appear, interrupting me.

Hi I don't know if this is the correct forum, but.

I bought Avast antivirus software yesterday. Started windows today and several windows functions do not work any more.

1 - Cannot SEARCH for anything
2 - Cannot left click the windows logo, bottom left, to show programmes. Can right click for different options
3 - Cannot find my windows StickyNotes programme so I cannot give you details of my Avast account
4 - Cannot open windows Onenote
5 - Cannot turn anything Avast OFF
I really wish I had never installed this software. Wasted a day of work.
Peter

What Antivirus program did you use before and how was it removed?
If nothing else was installed or you only had windows defender, try the following,

Repair & Clean Install of Avast -> https://goo.gl/t7aJGq
Repair Avast:
Open the Avast User Interface > Menu > Settings > Troubleshooting > Repair App. > Restart the Computer or,
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.

...By accessibility issues we mean issues related to readers (for example: JAWS, NVDA) bad colors, poor contrast, DPI issues etc..
This thread is reserved for reporting "accessibility issues" as defined by MartinZ.

I have just installed avast and have been prompted to run it in real time. However when I try to do that the page says "fixing" but stays like that for hours.  I have a few days left of a paid McAfee service, and it is still running.  Should I try again when that expires, or what? I am concerned about having no real time protection for any time period. Grateful for advice.
