Compatible with Fast User Switching?
« on: June 12, 2006, 11:38:42 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm running v4.7 Home on XP Pro SP2 and having problems with Fast User Switching being enabled. If I have 1 user logged in, everything is fine. However, if I 2nd user logs in avast starts to cause problems. Every web page accessed which isn't already cached come back corrupted. Basically not all of the page is returned so looks a bit weird and it's obvious from the source whats missing. I've tried turning off providers, but the only way to solve the problem other than logging the other user out is to turn off avast. Any ideas?

I suppose you have enough RAM to use the Fast User Switching with comfort...
Which webpages are returning this behavior? (don't post their url if they're infected and detected by WebShield).

Yeah I have plenty of ram (1GB) and can switch between users fine. The problem occurs for all sites. I haven't tested it with sites withing my local network or for anything other than http, so I'll try that and post an update. Are there any known issues that could casue this?

I am seeing the same type issues as stated here.  Has this been addressed?

This is definitely not a known issue. Avast should work fine with FUS.

Does the problem happen even if you stop (or pause) the WebShield provider?
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.

I've tested, today, two computers with XP SP2+ and Fast User Switching and avast.
Not a trouble at all... I confirm what Vlk posts.
Which is the error message?

Even though the user swears that the problem started occurring after the Avast software was installed after more troubleshooting and investigation I don't believe the problem is caused by Avast but actually by a McAfee Anti Phishing add-on to Internet Explorer.  Thanks for all the quick replies...
